Biblical love is a choice that must be repeated daily, a choice that goes against the grain of our natural and instinctual desires.

The love described in Romans 5 is from the Greek word agapē, a selfless, unconditional love that surpasses human standards.

Biblical love is what motivated God to execute His plan of…

  1.  .

F.F. Bruce wrote, “We rejoice not only because God offered us reconciliation but also because his nature wouldn’t allow him to go back on the offer, even if it caused his Son great suffering.”

For Paul, the love of God was the central motivating factor behind the cross of Christ and the blessing of justification by faith that it incurred.

Biblical love should motivate us to…

  1.  .

The love of God is not meant to be abstract and impersonal. It is meant to be dynamic and transformational.

Whenever the New Testament writers talk about the love of God or describe the love of God or God as love, they always mention the cross.
