Follow Along with the Message

Billy Sunday, a famous evangelist of the last century said: “There are 256 names in the Bible for the Lord Jesus Christ, and I suppose this was because He was infinitely beyond all that any one name could express.”

Jesus was…

1. The Promised Lamb from God

In Genesis 22:7-8 Isaac said, “… Look, the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering …”

Jesus was…

2. The Passover Lamb of God

This title “Lamb of God” carried significant meaning for Jewish culture during the time of Jesus. It goes back to Exodus 12:1–13 and the story of the Passover.

1 Corinthians 5:7 says, “Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.”

Jesus was the volunteered sacrificial Lamb of God so that we can be forgiven and live forever.

Jesus provided a sacrifice which was…

3. The Purpose of the Lamb of God

Matthew 1:20-21 reads, ”Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. . .21 . . . because He will save His people from their sins.”

You can make peace with your past, you can experience joy in the moment, and you can have hope for your future. That's what Jesus, the Lamb of God, came to do!

Tony Fox’s Mary’s Little Lamb Poem

Mary had a little Lamb, His name was Jesus Christ. Though some may not believe it, He came to give us life. This little Lamb was special, For He was sent from God. And so to earth He came one day, On His mission He did trod. He grew to be a fine young man, Mary’s little Lamb. He healed the sick and raised the dead, and taught as no one can. Then, in the prime of man-hood, His direction He did alter, He set His heart toward a rugged cross, and never ever faltered. He gave Himself a sacrifice for the sin of mortal man. His death and blood atone for sin like no other lamb’s can. Yes, Mary had a little Lamb, Who did us all great favor. He gave His life a sacrifice, So He could be our Savior.
