Your Doctor orders complete rest.  Do you comply?

Most of us don't think of rest as a category of right and wrong.  A commandment.

--REMEMBER

The creation story.  We are to set our lives in the context of this supernatural event and larger lessons.

God rested on the 7th day.  Not because He was weary, because He was SATISFIED and as an EXAMPLE for us.

     Work/Rest balance

"Be still (cease striving) and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth"(Psalm 46:10).

MORE than not working--working at something else!  Worship.  We turn our attentions to God.

Commandment 1--worship ONLY GOD, not the gods of the nations

Commandment 2--worship the TRUE GOD, not the god of your imagination

Commandment 3--draw down HIS NAME as governor over your whole life

Commandment 4--Invest TIME in seeking God (tithe money 1/10, tithe time 1/7)

"For I have learned how to be content (auto arkeo) in whatever circumstances I am.  I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity"

 (Philippians 4;11-12).

Without a SUBSTANTIAL investment of time, this balance is impossible.

--KEEP

     Protect, defend

"quadash quadash"   What is holy, protect as holy.

     The enemy's ridicule

--JESUS AND THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT

     Not legalistic

     Not lawless

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29).

How long has it been since you talked with the Lord and told Him your heart's hidden secrets?

How long since you prayed, how long since you stayed on your knees til the sun broke through?

How long has it been since you woke with the dawn and felt that your life was worth living?

Can you call Him your friend?  How long has it been since you knew that He cared for you?--Jim Reeves
