Follow Along with the Message

For Jesus’ disciples and the people in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Jesus was meant to be their hero, the one who would overthrow Roman oppression, who would rule them with justice and peace. Yet Christ does not fulfill their expectations.

While the people desired a saving king, if you turn your eyes, you will see…

  1. Jesus the    .

We need a King, but the King we need is not a conquering king, what we need is a servant king. And the terms of his kingdom might be very different from what we expect. Serving him means relinquishing our expectations into his hands

While the people were ready to receive a triumphant king, if you turn your eyes, you will see…

2. Jesus the    .

The crowds were ready to embrace Jesus as triumphant king, but they did not yet understand the more sobering role of a transforming king and the servant king role he would fulfill.
