Robert Webber wrote, “Palm Sunday is not just the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem. It is our own entry into the most solemn yet the most glorious experience of spirituality.”

Zechariah 9:9 says, “‘Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey’.”

Palm Sunday is important because it…

1.   Kingship  .

Only a king could control an animal that had never been ridden and keep it calm among millions of people shouting and waving palm branches.

Palm Sunday is important because it…

2.  Messianic  .

Matthew Henry Commentary says, “When Christ came into Jerusalem, he did not go up to the court or the palace, though he came in as a King, but into the temple; for his kingdom is spiritual.”

Holy Week begins with a ride on a donkey by a king and ends with the resurrection of the king.
