"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
 
There is a New Day coming. . .for people in a bad place. . .for people in a good place.
 
"Forgetting what lies behind, reaching forward to what is ahead" (Philippians 3:13).
 
 
Crossing the Jordan does not symbolize death and heaven.
 
The Jordan is a symbol of obstacle, problems that must be faced.
 
Goliath for David.  Pharisees for Jesus.  Addiction, family problems, depression for us.
 
 
--FIND AND FOLLOW GOD
 
Keep your eyes on the Ark.
 
God is First.  His Word is our Focus.  "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you" (John 15:7).
 
Stay back.  Reverence and perspective  "You have not passed this way before" (v. 3).
 
 
--WASH AND GET READY
 
Consecrate qadash  "to make holy, to clean."
 
Pursuit of Holiness, by Jerry Bridges
 
     "Pursue peace with all men and the holiness (sanctification) without which no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).
 
 
--LISTEN TO YOUR LEADERS
 
God took steps to exalt Joshua.  See v. 7.   Lift him up to an office of responsibility and respect.
 
 
--TRUST AND TAKE THE FIRST STEP
 
Get your feet wet.
 
 
--TELL THE STORY AND BE THANKFUL
 
Chapter 4.  Rocks from the river into an altar of remembrance.
