  1. The   of the church is accomplished only through the   of the Holy Spirit. (v. 4)

His presence is necessary because He…

  •   believers.

"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

  •   sinners.

"And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment…” (John 16:8)

  •   Christ.

"He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.”  (John 16:14)

  1. The   of the church is not  ; it is  . (v.6-8a)

  • God is   over all earthly kings and  .

"It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings…” (Daniel 2:21)

  • Christ is   than any trials or   that believers may face.

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

  • The Kingdom of God transcends the   and   of earthly Kingdoms.

Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." (John 18:36)

  1. The   of the church is achieved by the   of believers. (v.8)

God could have chosen any method for the advancement of His Kingdom.  He chose the   of His   by His  .

  1. The   of the church is  and   (and everything in between). (v.8b)

  • Obedience requires crossing    .
  • Obedience requires overcoming    .

The New Testament word is “ethne.”  It does not refer to countries.  It refers to people.

"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

“And they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.’" (Revelation 5:9-10)
