The old covenant made with Israel revealed sin, but it could not remove it.

When we think of the trajectory of Scripture, a statement like “It is finished” is of the utmost importance; it is the climax of God’s meta-narrative.

Hebrews chapters 8–10 illustrate how so much of what came before in the meta-narrative was pointing ahead.

The cross is not just an event in history. It is the turning point for all of history.

    The meta-narrative is a story of…

    1.   Through  .

The New Testament authors recognized Jesus Christ as fulfilling and completing the Old Testament sacrificial system.

The atonement wasn’t the cause of God’s graciousness; God’s graciousness was the cause of the cross.

Verse 28 tells us that when Christ returns, he will not “deal with sin”—because he already has dealt with sin once and for all on the cross! The final atonement for sin is Jesus.
