We celebrate Easter not because Jesus saw his shadow, but because when we look in the empty tomb we can see ours.

Because of Easter…

1. Hope is Present Not Past

Losing hope can make you sick. The Bible says in Proverbs 13:12, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is the tree of life.”

Judy Salisbury writes, “For me, there is something precious in the picture of Christ walking with us in our darkest hour, which I cannot overlook."

Because of Easter…

2. Hope is the Story we Share

Sally Lloyd-Jones writes, “There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all the stories are telling one Big Story."

N.T. Wright said in his book Surprised by Hope, “Without the resurrection there is one way of telling the story; with the resurrection there is a whole other way."

“In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

Elisabeth Elliot said, “Of one thing I am perfectly sure: God’s story never ends with ‘ashes.’”
