Follow Along with the Message

Jeremiah is calling out the justifications the people had used to excuse their sinful behavior. Rather than ritualistically reminding them of their sin, he was calling out their hypocrisy in even coming to the temple.

Worship without repentance is futile; ritualistic sacrifices without genuine heart purity are worthless.

What is a hypocrite? A hypocrite is someone who…

1.   God of His  .

God wants more than their worship in the temple; he wants their worship in all areas of their lives.

Jeremiah’s life included calling out hypocrisy and reminding Israel of the real meaning of worship.

We avoid being hypocrites by coming to God in…

2.    .

As un-repentance reaps judgment, so repentance reaps restitution. 2 Corinthians 7:10, “Godly sorrow produces repentance not to be regretted and leading to salvation.”

There must be more to repentance than just the “bad feeling.”

Keri Kent wrote, “To repent is not just to feel guilty over our mistakes, but to choose a new path. It is to make a 180-degree turn, to turn around and walk in a new direction.”
