    Jesus uses the word “church” in only two verses, both of which occur in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 16:18 and Matthew 18:17)

     

    How can we mirror the image of that young church?

    Togetherness is a term that expresses the unity of the body of Christ. It expresses unity of actions and words, and it also suggests a shared mission as God’s people.

    In many churches, the term “fellowship” has been reduced to the title of a committee or a quarterly activity.

     

     

    How can we mirror the image of that young church?

    Disciples are made through interpersonal relationships. A great way to foster relationships with our neighbors is to show hospitality.

    Stanley Getz wrote, “New Testament believers viewed the church as neither an edifice nor an organization. They were a people…a people brought together by the Holy Spirit, a people bound to each other through Christ, hence, a people standing in covenant with God. Above all, they were God’s people.”
