Prayer Devotionals for Week of Sept. 22

Wednesday Sept. 23
Pray for the leaders of America to come together to provide strategic leadership that will lead to righteous ad peaceful living in America.

“First of all, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Our nation is under attack both from an invisible enemy and a visible one which is us-the American people. We are like a ship that has lost its rudder leaving the ship unable to steer itself in the right direction. We are lost-adrift with little hope of changing our course in the right direction,

Godly leaders are needed through not only the spoken word but by being Godly examples to influence our people in making decisions that will honor the Lord and get us back on the right course toward a more righteous, peaceful, and orderly America.

Thursday Sept. 24
Pray for unity in the churches of America.

‘Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction”

                                                                                                               I Corinthians 1:10

Confess and repent of the sin of  division in our churches, supported by the sins of skepticism, criticism, and cynicism; due to an arrogance toward brothers and sisters who may look different than us, and may believe something a little different than us about secondary matters of the faith.

God is calling His church in America to unify upon the authority of the Bible and the centrality of Jesus Christ, the only savior of the world. Ask God to move us back to these basic beliefs.

Friday, Sept. 25
Pray for The Return tomorrow in Washington D.C. and for Christians throughout the land to set aside time to pray for one another and our nation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Tomorrow is the day for the national prayer rally in D.C. called the Return. We have been talking about it now for nearly 40 days. It is such an important event and while the majority of us cannot be in our nation’s capital tomorrow we can be intentional in planning a time in which we come together to pray with family and friends and watch the simulcast at thereturn/simulcast.

The verse is 2 Chronicles is either true or it is not but the only way for us to find out is to do what the verse says and then trust God to heal our land.

Saturday, Sept. 26
Pray that as we pray today along with millions of other believers across this land for His blessing upon our land.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33: 12.

Most Christians believe that God has anointed our country to be the shining light on the hill not only representing the truths of God in our daily lives but in the fundamental principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as well.  Can you imagine a world without the USA’s participation in it? Yes, we are a flawed country but look at the good that our people have done over the years in fighting evil and providing humanitarian relief throughout the world.

God wants to bless our land even more but if we continue to turn our backs upon Him how long will He continue to favor our people and our nation? The time is now for God’s people-the church to stand up and not only pray but live lives that honor Him. Pray for the strength and boldness to stand up to corruption and wickedness that is so prevalent in our country.

Sunday, Sept. 27
Pray that we will commit to a time today in which we are still and listen for God’s voice.

“He says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted among the earth”. Psalm 46:10

Today is a day in which we worship, study, experience fellowship with other believers, and hopefully sense a renewal in our lives which enables us to mature in our faith and empower us for the days ahead. However, all too often our Sundays are full of busyness and just as chaotic as any other day of the week.

What would happen if we spent just a small portion of the day meditating on His word and allow HIs spirit to speak to your spirit. It could be while you are watching one of God’s beautiful sunsets or holding a newborn baby. Savor the time and listen to what God is trying to reveal to you.

Monday, Sept. 28
Pray that God will lead you to be a proactive participant in this year’s election.

Blessed area those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6

Righteousness is about doing the right thing and the right thing for Christians is to participate in how they are governed-WE THE PEOPLE. And the most powerful tool for the Christian is the vote. It is estimated that in the 2016 presidential election that as many as 50 million Christians did not vote. We have relinquished our power by not voting.

  • Be an informed voter. Realize especially in this election we are voting for more than a President. We are voting for our culture and all that this nation has stood for the past 250 years. We must look at the bigger picture.
  • Give some money or some of your time to support the candidate of your choice.
  • Talk to your neighbors, friends, and children and grandchildren about the importance of this election not to convert them but to make sure they are educated
  • Pray and join us this Saturday, Oct. 3 at the church beginning at 10 am for a time of prayer and prayer walking. We will meet in the south parking lot.
