Kacey Musgraves’ song Family is Family, “You might look just like ’em, that don't mean you're like ’em—but you do love ’em.”

1. Love the   who  ).

Do we actively go out of our way to reach out to those family members that want nothing to do with us?

Henri Nouwen in his book The Return of the Prodigal Son wrote, “When the younger son was no longer considered a human being by the people around him, he felt the profundity of his isolation, the deepest loneliness one can experience."

2. Love the  who  .

Wade Bearden wrote a book titled To My Friend Who Left the Faith saying, “It’s possible to be a prodigal without ever leaving home.”

Henri Nouwen wrote in his book Home Tonight Reflections on the Parable of the Prodigal Son these words, “It is easy to place the elder brother in a bad light without reflecting on how we are often more like him than we think.”

3. Love like   who  .

Dallas Willard said in Getting Love Right, “God’s identity is love, and that explains why he loves individuals, even when he is not pleased with them.”
