Follow Along with the Message

Holy Saturday is often observed as a forty-hour vigil and is a time of reflection and prayer as Christians prepare to celebrate Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday.

1. Saturday’s    .

John 19:38, “Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one for fear of the Jews.”

Fran Trascritti wrote, “Joseph’s secret was out. There was no turning back. He was now known as a Christ follower.”

2.  Saturday’s    .

Once they laid eyes on the tomb and how his body would be taken care of, the women returned to their homes to prepare spices and perfumes. They would return to the tomb on Sunday morning to administer those spices but those spices would not be needed.

These servants are careful to observe the Sabbath while honoring their Savior.

3. Saturday’s    .

All those who were present on Good Friday struggled to find hope on Holy Saturday.

Paul writes in Philippians 3 verse 10, “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”
