Those who claim to be followers of Jesus become pointless and lose their credibility as witnesses for Christ if they don’t use their influence the way Jesus modeled for them.

Jesus did not use his power to simply gain followers. He used his power to establish God’s kingdom on earth.

After pointing out that he is no political revolutionary, Jesus discusses his purpose. He came to earth to be witness to the truth.

To bear witness to the truth is more than telling the truth, but displaying the truth.

As biblical influencers we are called to be people of the truth (v. 37) that is, people who proclaim and give witness to the truth himself, Christ.
