We are at that time of year when we as a church family have a chance to help identify, nominate and elect our church deacons for the coming 3-year term. Our deacons are a vital part of the life of the church and serve us all in many ways. We are asking each of you to help us identify qualified candidates for service.
You might be wondering what those qualifications are, so this is what we are looking for:
1. Male candidates age 21 or older by the nomination date of June 27
2. Members of HGBC for at least one (1) year by the nomination date of June 27
3. Active in church life either in a Life Group or serving in the various areas of the church’s mission
4. An individual of good moral character and high integrity per the biblical standards found in Acts 6:3 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13
After identifying a potential candidate in light of the biblical qualifications in item #4 above, we would ask you to ensure they meet the age and membership qualifications. Please also seek and receive permission to forward their name for nomination.
Our deacons regularly serve as Hosts on Sunday mornings to greet and follow-up with our guests and augment our security team to be an extra set of eyes and ears during our Sunday morning worship times. They also serve on various action teams and committees to support and improve our church programs. Additionally, they meet monthly as part of our Deacon Council. Each deacon’s service is uniquely tailored to their gifts, so no two deacons serve in exactly the same way.
Please be in prayer as the Lord leads you to men who will be considered for nomination. Deacon nominations will be open for submission on May 17 and run through June 27.
